The San Diego Hispanic Community Health Study/ Study of Latinos (HCHS/SOL) is the flagship project for the South Bay Latino Research Center of Excellence. The Center of Excellence is supported by staff and faculty members of the Graduate School of Public Health at San Diego State University, the Department of Preventive Cardiology at the University of California, San Diego, in collaboration with San Ysidro Health Center, Inc (SYHC)/ Center for Latino Research and Health Promotion.
The Center of Excellence aims to reduce health disparities in the Hispanic/Latino population through community-based participatory research strategies. Students and new investigators who intend to pursue public health related careers are exposed to important research experiences and opportunities to participate in interventions and epidemiological studies.
