Hispanic Community Health Study / Study of Latinos News
HCHS/SOL has a strong commitment to community benefit and community involvement. Community benefit is accomplished through community outreach and community health education services. HCHS/SOL staff has developed educational flyers, supports existing community outreach activities, and co-sponsors events in the community.

It also maintains an active level of participation in the community by:
  • collaborating on health promotion/education activities
  • engaging in health education and awareness through media
  • identifying and connecting participants with referral information
  • bringing together a Community Advisory Board
We believe community capacity and empowerment can be achieved through community education and leadership development. For this reason, the San Diego HCHS/SOL Field Center has partnered with other community organizations to bring forth a community education plan that addresses diverse topics in relation to health in the Hispanic/Latino community.
